Made with Dollaro and Buttero Vegetable Tanned Leather comes from Conceria Walpier Tannery in Tuscany, Italy. They are well known for their traditional methods of vegetable tanning with tree barks that go back 100's of years. La Bretagna is a member of the exclusive Pelle Vegetale Consortium that ensure leather is tanned using the traditional vegetal methods. The consortium is a group of tanneries in Tuscany that have built their own waist water treatment plant. Every tannery flows their processing water to the treatment plant for responsible cleaning and filtering to be used over and over in the tanning process. Rather than dumping the tanning waist water into rivers and streams the consortium makes it their responsibility. The Dollaro veg tan is a really unique and beautiful article. The grain has a beautiful flat pebble texture and in certain colors like Red, Orange Natural, Taupe and whiskey their is a nice 2 tone finish. The temper is firm from the print and gives a nice rigidity and structure to our products. The patina qualities are second to none. Rather than our products wearing out they grow more beautiful with age.
